Michelle 4 Senate

It has been my honor to serve as your State Representative. Things were different when I was first elected in 2014. In the State Senate, Republicans gained control when they formed the Majority Coalition.  In the House, it was almost evenly split, with Democrats holding a tiny one-seat majority. Fast forward to today: with Republicans losing seats virtually every election cycle, Democrats now have a constitutional three-fifths supermajority in both the House and Senate. They can pass bonds and take on more debt over the objection of every Republican in the legislature. Budgets will pass without a single Republican in the room. Over the last few years, with unchecked Democrat control, we have seen our communities deteriorate – skyrocketing crime and drug use, more homelessness, ballooning cost of living, and an education system that is failing our children.

After current 26th district senator Emily Randall moves to Congress, there will be a special election for her vacated Senate seat in 2025.  Taking this seat back will stop a supermajority and bring balance back to our state. This is why I am running for the Senate in the 26th Legislative District. I have a proven track record of winning in our battleground swing district, but will need your help to achieve victory in this tough election.

On December 14th, I will enter a “freeze” when ethics rules prohibit legislators from raising campaign funds during the legislative session. Any financial contribution or commitment to volunteer is needed before the “freeze” period. In this one Senate race, our community has the opportunity to make a huge difference for all of Washington. Let’s do this together!

Current Issues

Protecting Washington Families from Inflation

Costs for Washingtonians continue to rise with seemingly no end in sight. With increased spending at all levels of government, inflation has barely slowed down. And make no mistake – inflation is a tax of Washington families. Michelle is committed to supporting policies that cut unnecessary spending and prevent costs from rising at an increasing rate.

Increasing Public Safety

Michelle’s plan for ensuring the safety of Washington families and our state includes policies that allow cops to be cops – enough with the hand-tying; increased penalties for drug manufacturers and drug dealers who are poisoning our communities; and more resources dedicated to supporting victims of violence.

Fighting Against New Taxes

We have seen year after year state revenue increasing without new taxes. Washington families do not need any new taxes imposed on them. Michelle supports keeping as much money in your wallet as possible.

Filling the Gaps in our Education System

Michelle has been an educator for more than a decade and ingrained in education policy at the state level. She knows where Washington can improve by getting more students to earn their cap and gown, funding special education, and supporting students who may not have a place to sleep every night. Today’s youth are our future – we should be preparing them for entering the workforce, higher education, or trade school.

Acting lawmakers in Washington state are prohibited from accepting campaign fundraising contributions during legislative sessions. As Michelle is currently an acting State Representative, she is subject to the fundraising freeze.

Michelle 4 Senate will not be able to accept any donations from December 14, 2024 until the end of legislative session on April 27, 2025.
